Overview
The patrol division is comprised of 37 officers who work a variety of shift assignments. Patrol officers are supervised by nine patrol sergeants.
Officers are responsible for a wide array of law enforcement and public safety functions. The majority of a patrol officer's time is spent responding to dispatched calls for service, conducting traffic enforcement and identifying and investigating problems within their assigned district.
Officers primarily patrol their districts in their squad cars but can also patrol on foot, bicycle or motorcycle depending on their assignment. An officer's squad serves as their mobile office and is equipped with everything they need to carry out their duties.
District Policing
Every officer is assigned to patrol one of the two districts which allows them to become well acquainted with a specific area. These assignments also allow officers to create lasting partnerships with citizens and businesses.
