Fitchburg Technology Neighborhood
The vision..........
The City of Fitchburg unveiled a major economic development initiative called the "Fitchburg Technology Neighborhood" in 2001. This public/private partnership with Madison Gas and Electric, Vandewalle & Associates and the City of Fitchburg began planning work to establish our community as the high-tech center for a new economy. The purpose was to foster growth in biotechnology, information technology, advanced manufacturing, state-of-the-art electronic and equipment instrumentation and a location for new technology accelerator businesses. This initiative was to be a model in land use and sustainable development which would set us apart from other communities, who are also competing for a foot hold in attraction of clean and high paying industry.
The Fitchburg Technology Neighborhood, dedicates more than 2,000 acres for high quality technology businesses in mixed-use commercial and residential settings connected by parks, open space and multi-modal transpiration, creating the ideal place for technology companies to call home. The neighborhood consists of three developments: Fitchburg Center, Fitchburg Technology Campus/ RDC Tech Lands and Uptown Fitchburg.
