NEW Online Building Permit System
For New Construction of 1 & 2 Family Dwellings Per Act 211
(This does not complete the permit application process, you will need to submit uniform permit application and any other required paperwork to the City)
Effective December 1, 2017 the City of Fitchburg will be only accepting permit applications for one and two family new homes after the builder (or owner) has completed the State online permit. The Online Building Permit System was developed by the DSPS (Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services) to allow municipalities to gain compliance with 2015 Act 211. The owner, builder, or agents shall complete the application form and the Online Building Permit System will route it to the enforcing jurisdiction. Permit application data is used for statewide statistics on new one and two family dwellings, as well as the local code administration.
The 1st link below gives a more detailed look at the electronic filing and the 2nd link is the application itself:
After completion of the online form you may submit that printed form and the other paperwork from the City's packet along with your plans and any other required information to the Building Inspection Department as has been done in the past. Any questions please call the Building Inspection Department at (608) 270-4260.
