Public comment period on master plan alternativesThis was an alternative opportunity for those who couldn't attend the August 18th open house to give their input on the alternatives.

Park Commission selects/develops preferred master plan alternativeCommissioners met to discuss and select their preferred master plan alternative. They approved the Draft Revised Multi-Nodal alternative with two amendments: 1) Rename "Prairie Restoration" to "Prairie Restoration/Rain Garden" 2) Relocate the nature center back to the southeast corner of the park. See the map below for the latest version.

Open House on Draft McGaw Park Master Plan
Staff presented the draft master plan text and map and collected the public's feedback. All comments were shared at the Nov. 3 Park Commission meeting.

Park Commission discussion/action on draft McGaw Park Master Plan and recap of Oct 27 open houseThe Park Commission discussed and approved the 10/26/11 Draft McGaw Park Master Plan for referral and the public hearing on the plan. They didn't request any changes to the plan. (Note: Staff updated text on electric utilities and flag football to address factual errors)

Public hearing and Park Commission considers adoption of McGaw Park Master PlanThe Fitchburg Park Commission held a public hearing on the McGaw Park Master Plan for the purpose of soliciting comments from the public. A number of interested citizens registered to speak about the plan. After the public hearing was closed, the Park Commission recommended adoption of the master plan with amendments to the location of the disc golf course, tennis courts, and observation tower (see below).
